COVINGTON, Ky. -- A Boone County man was sentenced Tuesday to nearly 20 years in federal prison on child sex charges. Ricky Lee Dawson, 30, pleaded guilty to using a computer to set up a meeting with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl, but was actually an undercover investigator. Prosecutors said Dawson described in graphic detail his intention to have sex with the teen over a six-week period beginning April 26.. Dawson took a taxi June 1 from his home to Kenton County, where he was met by authorities and arrested. He was previously convicted of using a computer to entice a 13-year-old girl into having sex in 2007, but he instead was communicating with an undercover South Carolina police officer. Dawson was sentenced to 235 months in federal prison for the most recent offense, and authorities said his previous conviction was a factor in the sentence. He must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence and then will be placed under supervised release for 30 years once he's released.Copyright 2011 by WLWT.com. All rights reserved.
